"All I can say is… wow!" said Peter Fagrell, land division president for Lennar Homes, master developer of the Bressi Ranch community in Carlsbad.
"Wow" seemed to be the resounding reaction to the night's festivities when Barratt American debuted its new model homes, Magnolia Estates, within Bressi Ranch to a crowd of industry peers and city officials on a chilly evening in March.
The opening of the homes was not the only eye-catching attraction. Through twinkling white lights against a vast white-tent backdrop, women dressed as Southern belles and Rhett Butler look-alikes could be seen nibbling on fried green tomatoes and sipping on mint juleps. A soundtrack including "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Georgia" by the Wayne Foster Entertainment Group was simply the cream filling of the circling shrimp and cornbread tartlets.
The "Gone With the Wind"- themed model preview event on March 3 celebrated the grand opening of Barratt American's newest neighborhood, the Southern Colonial-inspired Magnolia Estates, in Carlsbad's new master-planned community of Bressi Ranch.
Three fully furnished models were opened to the public on Sunday, March 5. More than 750 people were there to welcome the homes into the community and five of the residences were snatched up immediately.
"Bressi Ranch was intended to provide an integrated commercial area with all kinds of housing options," said Fagrell at the Magnolia Estates event. "Lennar has taken care of affordable housing and single-family homes, but what you are looking at here is the crown jewel of the community."
Comprised of a limited-edition of only 25 luxurious estate-sized homes alongside themed gardens, Magnolia Estates offers home buyers the option of four or five bedrooms, 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 baths on home sites averaging a leg-stretching 20,000 square feet. Homes range in size from 4,985 to 6,210 square feet in four distinct home plans with four-car garages. One of the homes is on a single level. Magnolia Estates prices start at $1.8 million.
"We were very honored to be chosen by Lennar to participate in the development of Bressi Ranch," said Barratt American President Michael D. Pattinson. "This is such a beautiful community we could only hope to enhance it with these truly opulent homes."
To visit Magnolia Estates, exit Interstate 5 at Palomar Airport Road and head east for approximately four miles. Turn right on El Fuerte Street and follow signs to the sales office, located at 2251 Muirfields Drive. Viewing hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily except on Mondays when hours are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information contact Barratt American office by phone at (760) 931-1889 or visit their website www.barrattamerican.com.
