Bluwater Crossing features a collection of three-story live/work lofts and two-story town lofts interspersed among stores, restaurants and shops in a bustling community that sits just 900 feet from the beach.
Take a two-minute jog inland from the beach in Carlsbad and you'll find yourself amid the bustle of busy construction at Bluwater Crossing.
But the developers of this live/work neighborhood are building more than a new way to combine lifestyle and career, they're also building a healthy dose of anticipation. With models and a brand-new sales center complete, Bluwater Crossing invites you to come down for its grand opening, which is happening this month.
“It's an exciting time,” said Brad Perozzi, managing director of developer Trammell Crow Residential. “There is a national movement toward living smarter and working smarter, and Bluwater Crossing is definitely on the forefront of that.”
Once complete, the development will be an urban-style neighborhood of three-story live/work lofts interspersed among stores, restaurants and shops. Two-story town lofts also will be available for those who want to embrace this urban lifestyle by the sea.
For those small business owners and consultants who will call Bluwater Crossing home, Perozzi said the development will offer an escape from the inefficiencies that take a toll on businesses and the quality of life of their owners.
“There is no commute since your business is right downstairs. And with the Coaster just a short stroll away, you can get into the city for a meeting without fighting all that gridlock,” he said.
Time and gasoline savings aside, the development has been engineered to provide efficiencies that also are good for the planet.
“With our models now open, people can come in and really get a feel for what sustainable living is like,” said Lori Asaro, senior vice president of the Ryness Company, the firm managing sales at Bluwater Crossing. “Reducing commutes is just the beginning.”
The commitment to sustainability began with how the project was situated. Planners and designers positioned it to take advantage of prevailing ocean breezes, which provide natural air cooling. Roll-up doors and energy-efficient hydronic watering systems also enhance utility savings.
The developers integrated the use of reclaimed water for landscaping, water-smart jardini?r reservoir systems for trees, green building materials and a communal water fountain decorated with recycled glass tiles. Bike racks and pathways are integrated throughout to encourage residents to keep their cars parked.
“When you take a look at our models, you can see we're merging high ideals with high design,” Asaro said. “Our interiors feature everything from Viking appliances to Junckers hardwood flooring and Scavolini cabinetry.”
This community is designed to offer a cohesive neighborhood lifestyle for residents, and an economic engine for Carlsbad.
“It's great that people can come by and preview our models and really experience the Bluwater Crossing lifestyle,” Perozzi said. “But the long-term affects, growing economic prosperity in Carlsbad and protecting the planet by encouraging green lifestyles, are highly anticipated too.”
Since changing the world happens one step at a time, Bluwater Crossing now looks forward to its next great milestone: A grand opening celebration, happening this month. For more information on Bluwater Crossing, visit www.bluwatercrossing.com.
