Buffini: When I immigrated to America from Ireland and entered the real estate industry, I received little training for generating leads other than methods like cold calling and door knocking, which seemed to generate a lot more hostility than interested buyers or sellers. From my family's painting business, I had learned about word-of-mouth leads that resulted from doing work at a level that I could put my name to. In my own real estate practice, I adopted the word-of-mouth concept, but made it more proactive by creating systems for generating a steady stream of referrals. My own success using these systems and my desire to share them with others led me to start Buffini & Company as a way to impact many others in the real estate industry.
CBJ: What is the company's philosophy?
Buffini: Our company philosophy is to train and coach our clients and members to work by referral so that they can live the good life. Working by referral means serving your clients the way they want to be served, treating their money like it was your own, building long-term relationships by staying in touch with your clients on a regular basis, including clients in your community while also letting them know you're never too busy for their referrals and giving first, asking second and then receiving.
