Board members join California Pacific Airlines
Long-time San Diego marketing executive Chuck Hansen and Mexican entrepreneur Fernando Iriate Woodside have been elected to the California Pacific Airlines' corporate board of directors.
Hansen, a former vice president of marketing for Pacific Southwest Airlines during the 1970s, also was in charge of marketing for Atlas Hotels and executive director of the America's Cup Services in the 1980s. Today, he is vice president of community relations for the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians.
Woodside, a North County resident, holds citizenship in both the United States and Mexico. He is CEO of Sui Generis Entertainment Group, responsible for marketing campaigns of international brands such as PepsiCo, LG, Netel, ING, and Ford Motor Company in Mexico. Woodside is a director for Grupo Formula, which has a number of radio and television stations in Mexico and currently is expanding into the Hispanic market here in the United States.
“Chuck Hansen's vast marketing background with PSA, and Fernando Woodside's important relationships with Mexican business and tourism are great additions to the management of our new airline,” said Ted Vallas, president and CEO for California Pacific.
HNC invites bereaved community members to celebrate “Light Up A Life”
Hospice of the North Coast (HNC) invites people who have experienced the loss of a loved one to celebrate their memory at an inspiring “Light Up A Life” tree-lighting ceremony and memorial December 5, from 2-4 pm at the facility of event sponsor, Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA), 704 Pier View Way in downtown Oceanside. The Light Up A Life event, which is open to the public, serves as a memorial celebration while helping to raise funds for HNC. According to Executive Director Nerice Kaufman, “Proceeds support our rainbow of hospice services, including the exceptional end-of-life care, bereavement and healing programs that our community nonprofit provides to all, regardless of ability to pay. We are grateful to the OMA for 'gifting' us with the use of their facility for the ceremony. The money we raise will enable us to treat hundreds of terminal patients whose families will never be billed. We ease our dying clients' transition and help those who love them continue on their life's path.”
Light Up A Life guests can honor their loved ones at multiple levels of support.
In addition to the tree-lighting ceremony, participants can enjoy musical performances, group singing, light refreshments and a life-affirming message delivered by nationally known peacemaker, Azim Kahmisa. All in attendance will have an opportunity to remember a loved one by lighting a memorial candle.
Pre-registration is recommended; guests can RSVP and obtain full event details at www.hospicenorthcoast.org. Reservations also can be made by phone at (760) 448-4262.

Guests of all ages are invited to commemorate a loved one at the Hospice of the North Coast benefit event.
LEGOLAND Water Park honored by World Waterpark Association
The world's largest gathering of water attraction professionals and development experts, the World Waterpark Association, has honored LEGOLAND? Water Park with the prestigious Industry Innovation Award.
The Industry Innovation Award is judged based on how the organization has set itself apart from others in terms of moving the industry to a new or higher plane. “The Worldwater Park Board of Directors considers new services, techniques and attractions and how those offerings help advance the industry in some way to keep it fresh and inspired,” said Gina Kellogg with World Waterpark Association.
The world's first LEGO? themed Water Park opened in May and builds on the mission of LEGOLAND? California with interactivity, imagination and fun and is geared specifically for families with children ages 2 to 12. “The fact that our Water Park is LEGO themed and geared toward young children and their families is what truly separates LEGOLAND Water Park from any other water park in the world,” said General Manager of LEGOLAND California Resort Peter Ronchetti. “I'm glad to say the reaction has been very positive and despite the rather untraditional summer weather and continuing economic stress in the market, we have had a very strong season and will be once again reporting record attendance numbers for LEGOLAND California Resort this year.”
