A unique hospitality concept now open in Carlsbad

It is hard to capture the full essence of the Green Dragon Tavern & Museum, a unique new Carlsbad landmark that combines exquisite family-friendly cuisine with an East Coast flare, a sprawling conference center, coffee shop and two-story tavern, all centered around a Colonial-American history museum.

The stately New England Colonial building is unmistakable, sitting atop the Palomar Airport Road exit, adding a distinctive element of New England inspired architecture. The GDT&M is a replica of the original Green Dragon Tavern, demolished in Boston in 1854, where our founding fathers planned the American Revolution, Boston Tea Party and where Paul Revere began his famous ride to Lexington and Concord.

Senior Vice President and General Manager John Lek, explains that the "Green Dragon Tavern & Museum is a family friendly, community focused multifaceted hospitality venue that offers locals unique experiences, catering to many different needs for the North County community."

Whether choosing to eat in the dinning room, or snuggle up in front of one of the two fireplaces featured in the tavern, the New England inspired, American comfort cuisine menu offers guests generously portioned shared plates, original salads, and a range of entr?es from burgers, scallops, steaks to fresh Maine Lobster. The GDT&M cuisine team features their own original recipes and delectable sauces to tempt any palate.

"GDT&M's is dedicated to providing a service-oriented, community-centric destination. The free admission colonial American history museum, neighborhood Coffee House at the Tavern, bookstore and approximately 4,000 square feet of event space is meant to meet the needs of the growing Carlsbad community," said Lek.

The Carlsbad community was intentionally sought out by Lek and the owner.

"Carlsbad has a thoughtful and dedicated city leadership with a well laid out community master plan and a vibrant, innovative and diverse civic and business community," said Lek. "We were excited to help contribute to a strong local community by creating an inviting experience for its guests to celebrate and reconnect with the foundation of our nation's amazing history, all while staying here locally in North County."

At the epicenter of the facility is the Colonial-American history museum. It features original 18th century newspapers, primary source documents with signatures from our founding fathers, including John Hancock and Sam Adams.

Since its quiet opening in February, the GDT&M has already welcomed over 9,000 guests and their original S'mores dessert, served in a cast-iron skillet, was ranked in the top 25 San Diego Best Desserts by U-T San Diego.

GDT&M is well on track to employing more than 100 employees in service to the larger Carlsbad community.

"Our team members seek to make every guest feel invited into our home," said Lek.

Join the revolution! Enjoy touring the corridors and museum with a glass of your favorite craft beer or wine.
