The Cardiff Medical Spa embraces the idea that “Not all spas are created equal.” They are a new type of medical practice which combines cutting-edge medicine with the warm, relaxed atmosphere of a day spa.
The mission and standards of the spa come from the three partners who brought the spa to life. The initial idea was the dream of Mary Roberts, an operating room nurse transplanted from Virginia.
After 27 years in the operating room, Roberts wanted to expand into other areas in the medical profession, specifically cosmetics. As Roberts shared her vision with Theresa Jankowski and Dr. Carl Powell, the idea began to bud.
Each of the three partners brings their own expertise into the practice. Dr. Powell, a general surgeon for the past 30 years was working in cosmetic surgery and lasers in San Diego, but wanted to open a practice dedicated to North County. Jankowski, a marketing/finance professional in publishing for the past 12 years, wanted to move away from the corporate culture. Within a week of the initial business meeting, space was being explored.
As a full-service skin care facility, the Cardiff Medical Spa combines the services of a general and cosmetic surgeon with registered nurses and estheticians. Services include photofacial rejuvenation, photodynamic therapy for acne, laser hair removal, Botox, Restylane, laser/chemical resurfacing, and laser treatments of scars and moles.
They also provide leg treatments for spider veins and varicose veins including compression stocking fittings. Esthetic services include facials, peels, mineral make-up, waxing, microdermabrasion, myotonology, and massage. Consults for cosmetic procedures including liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, and mini-facelifts are available.
