Toni Padron, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's executive vice president and chief operating officer, was one of more than 30 San Diego business leaders honored at the 18th Annual Women Who Mean Business Luncheon, held Nov. 17.
The awards ceremony, held by the San Diego Business Journal, was created to recognize the "dynamic women business leaders and role models" of the county. Nominees were "selected for their achievements and contributions to San Diego companies and the community."
Padron's nomination form highlighted her dedication to the success of small and starting businesses, especially through the Chamber's Small Business Success Center and its Pathways to Success groups.
Padron expressed surprise by her win.
"I saw all of these women business leaders that I look up to in that room," Padron said. "It was an honor just to be there among them, and it was a great honor to win an award."
Other Chamber members who walked away with the glass trophies include Michelle Rose Gilman of the Fusion Academy & Learning Center, Teresa Halleck of San Diego County Credit Union and Crystal Watkins of Torrey Pines Bank.
The winners were selected from about 140 nominees, which included Peggy Cooper of the San Diego Regional Airport Authority, Colleen Harvey of the Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Dr. Jan Jackson of California State University San Marcos, June Komar of Scripps Health, Sandra Moffitt Adams of LOGO Expressions and Wendi Pomerance Brick of Customer Service Advantage.
