One of the goals of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is to improve the ability of our members to market their products and services around the world. With this in mind, the chamber took a business trip to northern China in 2006 to introduce its members to one of the largest untapped consumer markets.
“It was a cost-effective way for the chamber to enter into China's business and tourism industries,” said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the chamber. “Now we have chosen a different part of China to visit because we hope to encourage other Carlsbad citizens and business leaders to join us on the tour.”
More than 350 people went on the initial trip. Due to the significant turnout, the chamber is organizing a trip Hong Kong, Macau and other southern cities in China.
“This will further assist businesses in getting a feel for China and the way it does business,” Owen said.
Departing Nov. 3 and returning Nov. 12, the trip includes roundtrip international airfare, airport taxes throughout, roundtrip transportation from the chamber to Los Angeles International Airport, four-star and five-star hotel stays, admission tickets to several tourist spots and historical sites, deluxe tour buses with English-speaking guides and three meals everyday, except in Hong Kong and Macau where only breakfast is included.
The chamber can arrange meetings with Chinese business representatives for those who are interested. Although it is a business trip, there will be plenty of time for personal sightseeing and shopping.
The cost is $2,299 per person, as well as a $130 visa application fee and miscellaneous processing fees. A minimum non-refundable deposit of $250 is required at the time of registration.
Those who would like to attend must already have a valid passport and must be registered by Aug. 15. For more information, call Sarah Castiglione at (760) 931-8400 or e-mail her at [email protected].
