The city of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency invite all residents, property owners, business owners and other community members to come to the Village and help celebrate 28 years of redevelopment success from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
The past 28 years represent Phase I of redevelopment activities in the area. Come celebrate the success of the first 28 years and help us kick-off continuing revitalization efforts for Phase II of this effort in the Village.
The celebration event will include a short documentary at Carlsbad Village Theatre and an exhibit of still photography of the redevelopment efforts at New Village Arts Theatre. Refreshments, including appetizers, will be provided by Village businesses in the parking lot at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue.
We want all to come and re-experience the Village with new eyes and enjoy a free party at the same time.
For those who have not been to the Village lately, there is an exciting diversity of businesses that you will want to experience. There are a variety of popular restaurants, a wonderful mix of retail stores and many opportunities to enjoy arts and culture, including live theatre at the award-winning New Village Arts, as well as several art galleries.
The Carlsbad Village Business Association and Carlsbad Village Improvement Partnership recently consolidated into one organization and are now known as the Carlsbad Village Association.
This association has been very busy implementing new, and growing existing, special events and other activities for the Village. These include the Farmers' Market that takes place each Wednesday and Saturday, Thursdays on the Coast and Spark in the Park, which ignite community creativity and highlight the diversity of arts and entertainment opportunities within the Village.
The association also recently hosted an outdoor Hollywood movie series. The association is making great strides in its efforts to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy all that the Village has to offer. You won't want to miss the fun.
At 8 a.m. every Thursday, any interested person can meet in an informal setting to discuss the Village, what's new, old, exciting, challenging and more from business and customer perspectives. Village Voices takes place at the Housing and Redevelopment office, which is located in the Village at 2965 Roosevelt St.
If you would like to share your thoughts to help businesses grow and prosper in the area, you are invited to join the dialogue. The Village needs you and we want to hear what you have to say.
Join us in our celebration, and help to continue the revitalization efforts. For more information, call (760) 434-2815.
