Fishing enthusiasts will be able to cast their hooks from boats, kayaks and the banks of the lagoon during the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's first annual Celebrity Fishing Tournament from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17.
More than a dozen television and movie actors from Hollywood will participate in the fundraiser, along with a number of retired and current San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres players. Proceeds will benefit the foundation, United Anglers of Southern California and Hubbs Sea World Research Institute.
The entry fee is $35, but the price is $100 for those who wish to fish in a boat with a celebrity. Following the competition, there will be an awards ceremony, auction and a food and beverage reception from 1 to 3 p.m. for all of the competitors at the lagoon's Discovery Center. Those who don't want to fish can purchase tickets to the reception for $35.
