The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will present its annual installation and awards dinner on Friday March 10 at 6 p.m. This year the event will take place at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Aviara located at 7100 Four Seasons Point in Carlsbad.
This year the Chamber has planned events that will make for an exciting and memorable evening for all involved.
"We're not going to ruin the surprises but suffice it to say we have added some exciting elements to this year's event," says Betsy Bracken, the Chamber's Director of Special Events.
The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres with piano accompaniment courtesy of Kamau Kenyatta. Neo-soul band, King Kelly, will serenade guests throughout the evening with classic renditions of jazz favorites. A three-course dinner will be served while speeches are given and awards presented.
This year's live auction, which will precede the evening's conclusion of music and dancing, will feature items such as: a 7-night stay in Orlando, FL and two round trip Jet Blue airline tickets, courtesy of Grand Pacific Palisades; jewelry selections, courtesy of Spectrum Fine Jewelry; a Westfield Plaza Camino Real shopping spree; weekend packages at Four Seasons Resort Aviara and La Costa Resort and Spa and much more.
More than 600 local business and civic leaders are expected to attend the Chamber event, where awards will be presented for the following categories:
Entrepreneur of the Year
Businessperson of the Year
Business of the Year (Small, Medium and Large)
Lifetime Achievement in Business
Carlsbad Citizen of the Year (Master's Meed)
The awards dinner will also be a time to thank the previous year's outgoing Board of Directors members, welcome the incoming 2006 board of directors and honor the ongoing Chairman of the Board, Tim Stripe.
Last year an estimated 580 local business and civic leaders were in attendance. In addition, the event featured a tribute to wounded Marines, all Purple Heart recipients, recently returned from deployment in Iraq.
