The Partners in Education Foundation, a division of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, awarded 21 grants to local teachers in March. Since 1993, the Partners in Education Foundation has funded teacher grants to public K-12 schools serving Carlsbad students. Grants are awarded once a year and are funded by generous donations from local businesses participating in the annual Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce golf tournament.
The purpose of the grant program is to provide educational materials and/or opportunities that enhance workforce development that would not otherwise be available for Carlsbad students and teachers. Winning grants demonstrated how workforce skills are being developed. These skills may include, but are not limited to broadbased soft skills, critical thinking, project-based learning, attitudes for success, or specific skills including technology, sales, marketing, advertising, or graphic arts.
