In honor of the many volunteers who help the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce throughout the year, a special First Friday Breakfast Volunteer Recognition program will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. Dec. 7.
The annual event will change venues for this special celebration. It will move to the Hilton Garden Inn, 6450 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad.
In addition to being a fun and positive event, the breakfast is one of the best networking opportunities of the year. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with one another and share ideas while enjoying a buffet breakfast.
Paul Thompson, chair of the chamber's board of directors, and other committee chairs will present the awards. The awards will be presented for various categories, including committee member of the year, rookie of the year and other areas of special recognition.
Each year, hundreds of volunteers donate their time to the chamber, helping with everything from events to new program development. Through their contributions, the chamber has become the largest business organization in North County.
“Volunteers are the life blood of any community or organization. Without a strong volunteer effort, our chamber would not be nearly as effective in serving our community,” said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the chamber. “As a matter of fact, without our excellent volunteer base, this chamber would not be the second largest in the county and the 10th largest in the state. It goes without saying that they are vital to our unity in community mission.”
Tickets for the event are $25 for members and $35 for prospective members who register by Nov. 30. After that date and at the door, all tickets are $40. Sorry, but there are no refunds. At the door, seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
