Most entrepreneurs know that they need training and support to effectively run their business, but it is very difficult to take the concepts taught quickly at a workshop and implement them successfully in their business.

Pathways to Success is a peer support group concept designed to help the small business entrepreneur become more successful through ongoing peer support. With the assistance of a trained facilitator, the Pathways group addresses accountability, goal setting and problem solving issues related to growing a business today.
“Learning from other business people widens my scope of understanding about entrepreneurship and various aspects of running a successful business. It's so easy to isolate as a business owner; just having this group written in my planner as an important meeting in my week and keeps me more connected and focused,” said Colleen Christopher, owner and director of Study Depot Learning Center, and participant in the group.
The first Pathways group of six entrepreneurs formed in June and now meets every two weeks to address issues such as:

*Strategic goals, short and long term
*Tactical actions to reach goals such as appointments, marketing, events, meetings and more
*How to measure each action
*Accountability with a peer partner
*Results and group recommendations

In addition to the peer and facilitator interaction, the group determines which “experts” they wish to invite for presentations and one-on-one discussions. Recently, the group identified the need to learn more about developing a marketing plan and materials. As a result, a marketing professional was invited to answer specific questions and evaluate existing materials and programs exclusively for the Pathways group.

Kris Sinderhom, the facilitator, and owner of SBS Associates said, “Although each of the members of the group have very different businesses, the group provides them with a valuable sounding board to test ideas, review goals, and present issues and opportunities for discussion”.

Other members enjoy the exchange of ideas the group allows for and the team interaction found among group members.

If you would like to join the next Pathways to Success Group, we invite you to attend an informational meeting from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.
