The San Diego Press Club recently bestowed two Excellence in Journalism Awards upon the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber received second place for the Carlsbad Business Journal in the Trade Publications, Association/Member Publication category. The chamber also received third place for its McClellan-Palomar Airport 50th Anniversary commemorative magazine in the Trade Publications, Special Interest or One-time Publications category.
“This was the first time we entered our publications into the contest and we are very proud of the fact that we won two awards on our first try,” said Angela Holman, editor of the Carlsbad Business Journal. “We work hard to produce a high-quality newspaper each month, as well as special publications throughout the year.”
The 36th Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards took place Oct. 20 at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. More than 370 people attended the sold out celebration.
The San Diego Press Club is one of the largest clubs of its kind in the nation with nearly 400 members in the news communications field.
