On behalf of our members, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce has already hosted more than 60 meetings, workshops and events this year, and more than 150 are planned to take place in the remaining eight months.
That breaks down to nearly 19 happenings each month for the remainder of this year. Considering each month has an average of 22 working days, the chamber staff is very busy providing these services as a benefit to our members.
These figures don't even include the two days each week the chamber offers free SCORE counseling through its Small Business Success Center, which means there are still at least 64 days of SCORE counseling remaining this year. The numbers also don't reflect the three subcommittees that meet once a month at the chamber or the four ribbon cuttings the chamber averages each month.
“This has been an exciting year for us so far,” said Toni Padron, executive vice president and COO of the chamber. “We are providing our members a return on investment that surpasses everyone's expectations. We love that we can meet the needs of our members every single day, in many different ways.”
The chamber also attends numerous City Council, Planning Commission, County Board of Supervisors and state meetings to advocate for public policy that is beneficial to business and the community. These meetings are often lengthy and some require hours of travel time.
“When times are doubly challenging, more time and effort is needed to help our members survive. We are taxing our staff to double overtime, but we will do whatever it takes to support our members,” said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the chamber.
