The Nascar-themed event will take place at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara, 7100 Four Seasons Point, Carlsbad. The chamber is pursuing nominations in the following seven categories:
• Businessperson of the Year
• Small Business of the Year (1-15 employees)
• Medium Business of the Year (16-99 employees)
• Large Business of the Year (100 or more employees)
• Lifetime Achievement in Business
• Entrepreneur of the Year
• Community Leadership
The deadline to submit nominations is Dec. 19.
This premiere event recognizes the accomplishments of Carlsbad's business and community leaders whose vision has shaped the city and set the stage for years of continued prosperity. Last year's winners include Ben Weseloh of Weseloh Chevrolet-Hummer, Mark and Kathy Winkler of Winkler & Winkler/Keller Williams Real Estate, RBF Consulting, Shea Homes San Diego, Solutions Business Imaging, Synergy Printing Services, Tim Stripe of Grand Pacific Resorts Inc. and Tina Nova Bennett of Genoptix Medical Laboratory.
Two additional awards were given out last year to eco-friendly companies. The Lund Team received the Green Technology Advocate Award and Poseidon Resources Corp. received the Environmental Spirit Award.
More than 650 people, including prominent and high-profile business leaders, elected officials and community members, will attend the awards dinner. Last year, the event sold out and there was a waiting list for those who wanted to attend.
“Our Annual Business Awards Dinner honors and recognizes businesses that epitomize the American dream,” said Toni Padron, the chamber's COO and executive vice president. “Business is good in our region and in 2009 our businesses will be the driving force of our area's economy.”
The awards dinner will honor the achievements of the chamber's 2008 board of directors, inaugurate the 2009 leadership team and fire up attendees to race for revenue. The evening also will feature a cocktail reception, fantastic entertainment, culinary delights at a world renowned resort, a live auction, complimentary valet parking and more.
