Beginning in November, downtown Carlsbad will transform into a holiday Village by the sea.
New holiday banners and decorations will deck the streets. A local artist will be painting store windows with winter scenes and many stores will be participating in upcoming holiday events.
Stop by the Shops at Village Faire to see the beautiful new colors and renovation of the shopping and dining center between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue. You will find hundreds of gift ideas including spa services, new restaurants, trinkets, artwork, jewelry, clothing and more.
Stroll down Carlsbad Village Drive, Grand Avenue or State Street and enjoy the holiday atmosphere, take in a play at the New Village Arts Theatre and have dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants. If you haven't been to the Village lately, you're missing out on a great local experience.
The following are some of the upcoming holiday events planned for the Village:
• Dec. 2, Rotary tree lighting; The Shops at Village Faire.
• Dec. 8, Car decorating contest; location to be determined.
• Dec. 9, Pups on Parade and Pet Faire; the route is from the Carlsbad Village Business Association office to The Shops at Village Faire, 300 Carlsbad Village Drive.
• Dec. 15, Family Holiday Celebration in the Village, which includes a military appreciation pancake breakfast, a Village-wide scavenger hunt and people's choice window voting. As usual, the Carlsbad Village Farmers' Market will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown.
