Carlsbad City Library is pleased to announce its second "Carlsbad Reads Together," a community-wide reading program with a full schedule of events and discussions centered on Ray Bradbury's acclaimed classic, Fahrenheit 451. "Carlsbad Reads Together" is modeled on national community reading programs designed to bring community members together and engage them in discussion about the same book at the same time.

A highlight of the program will be an appearance by Mr. Bradbury on Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium in the Carlsbad City Library complex at 1775 Dove Lane. Mr. Bradbury's best known and most beloved books include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

In addition to discussing his work, Mr. Bradbury will be signing copies of his books. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Carlsbad Library. For more information, please call (760) 602-2012.

The libraries have ordered additional copies of the book to coincide with Carlsbad Reads Together. There will also be seven "book club" styles discussions held throughout April. A special resource guide will be available at the Library facilities and online at www.carlsbadlibrary.org.

Mr. Bradbury appeared at the Library more than 10 years ago, and it will be an honor to welcome him back."

The previous Carlsbad Reads Together took place in September and October of 2004 and featured T.C Boyle's The Tortilla Curtain.
