The city of Carlsbad's communications department recently won several prestigious national, state and local awards for its outstanding television programming and printed publications.
The city was honored by the National Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors, or NATOA; the City-County Communications and Marketing Association, or 3CMA; the California Association of Public Information Officials and the San Diego Press Club.
“The communications department's top priority is to provide our residents with dynamic, top-quality publications and programming,” said Communications Manager Denise Vedder. “It is, however, an honor for our efforts to be recognized by our peers.”
The city's annual 2007 Calendar & Community Guide won a first place SAVVY award in the calendar category from 3CMA. The guide, which is sent annually to residents during the month of December, features information on people, places and events in Carlsbad.
The city's quarterly Community Update Video, produced by Val Brown, the city's video production manager, won several awards, including first place in the community awareness category and first and third place in the public education category from NATOA, which gives awards for excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies.
The quarterly updates are produced as a service to residents through the city of Carlsbad's communications office to inform citizens of issues, services and opportunities to get involved in programs and activities. The Community Update Video airs on Time Warner Cable Channel 19 on Mondays at 8 p.m. and Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and 5:30 pm. The video also can be viewed at www.carlsbadca.gov.
