The city of Carlsbad recently kicked off a wide-ranging visioning process to assist Carlsbad in planning for future projects and priorities.
Envision Carlsbad will enable community members to provide feedback to the city on what is important to the community today and in the future, and what challenges and opportunities face the city. As part of the community visioning process, 19 residents have been selected to serve on the Envision Carlsbad Citizens' Committee.
The group will bring a range of perspectives on issues affecting Carlsbad, serve as an information conduit to others in the community and help encourage broad community participation. Committee members represent a variety of environmental, social and economic perspectives, as well as a geographic cross section of the city.
A Carlsbad High School student and a La Costa Canyon High School student represent a youth perspective.
The first committee meeting was held Nov. 12. The next meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Jan. 14. The committee meets at the Faraday Center, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad.
In addition to the citizens' committee, community members can participate in Envision Carlsbad through a survey that will soon be sent to all Carlsbad residents. The survey will include questions about the quality of life and areas of community interest within the city. An online version of the survey also will be available.
Other opportunities to participate will include community-wide workshops, neighborhood briefings and one-on-one interviews with representatives of business groups, civic organizations and other stakeholder groups.
