Lead by Craig McStravick of AT&T and Bill Maynard of Netcom America, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's Technology Committee meets the third Tuesday of each month from 7:30-9:00 a.m. The group discusses issues that effect every business and focuses on the way in which current and new technologies can help your bottom line.

The committee is made up of technology professionals and chamber members interested in learning more about technology. Frequently, the committee has speakers discussing the latest in technology for your business such as, Voice over IP, WiMax, Smartphones, etc.

Any chamber member is welcome at the Technology Committee.

The committee seems to have a new idea each year. Last year's, the committee's brainchild was the Technology Pavilion at the chamber's annual Business Expo. Due to the pavilion's success, the committee will bring the pavilion back to this year's expo. With the new concept in hand last year, the Technology Committee focused on having technology-related members show their product in a particular area of the Business Expo. Not only could you speak to a web designer, a telephone provider, computer maker, or an information technology consultant, the pavilion offered free technology-related seminars. The seminars were focuses on relaying information in laymen's terms to help educated the membership in general about technology. It is rumored that the Microsoft Across America bus will be a part of this year's Technology Pavilion.

This year, the committee's new concept is “Lunch Bytes.” Lunch Bytes is a lunch time learning program that will offer lunch and computer training for a reasonable fee. Not only will you be able to come to the chamber and enjoy a lunch from one of our fine members who providers catering, you will also learn the basic about a software program, all in 90 minutes. For a small, yet to be determined fee, you can have lunch and learn the basics of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Quickbooks just to name a few. Keep an eye open for the official announcement of Lunch Bytes.

So, if you want to learn more about how technology can help improve your bottom line, whether with Voice over IP (April Technology Committee meeting topic), or how to make your work forces mobile (May meeting topic) the Technology Committee is the committee for you. All members of the chamber are welcome to come to the Technology Committee, where they take the fear out of technology for everyone.
