The purpose of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's Technology Committee is to educate its members on the use of technology and how it can help their business, and also to keep the chamber on the cutting edge of technology.
Led by Bill Maynard of Netcom America, the committee is comprised of technology professionals and members who want to learn more about technology. It is a great mix of the chamber's membership.
This year, the committee has planned a series of presentations on the selection and use of technology in business. Each month, new subjects will be addressed on the identification, selection and use of these technologies and tools.
Some of the topics that will be presented include how to find a domain name, setting up your initial Web site, accounting packages, content management systems, e-mail and newsletter tools, phone systems, cabling, wireless systems, printers, copiers, faxes, e-faxes, computer networks, help desks, receiving payments online, business recovery planning, Internet security, merchant accounts, shopping carts, smart phones, social networking sites and covering the risks and rewards of allowing access to these types of sites.
Whether you want to network with technology professionals or learn how a specific technology can benefit your business, the Technology Committee is the perfect fit for you. Its staff liaison is Angela Holman, the chamber's director of communications.
The committee meets from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the chamber, 5934 Priestly Drive, Carlsbad. For more information about the committee and its programs, call the chamber at (760) 931-8400.
