Although the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce does not support or endorse political candidates in any matter, the chamber would like to congratulate the two Carlsbad City Council candidates who were elected.
On Nov. 4, the citizens of Carlsbad re-elected Ann Kulchin, 74, to her 8th term as a City Council member and elected Keith Blackburn, 49, to his first term.
Kulchin, a former elementary school teacher, has served 28 years in office and is currently mayor pro tem. Blackburn, a real estate developer and Carlsbad police sergeant, will retire from law enforcement Jan. 2.
“We look forward to working with both Ann and Keith over the next four years on continuing to make Carlsbad a great place to work, live and play,” said Michael Babowal, the chamber's director of government affairs.
Both Kulchin and Blackburn will be sworn into office Dec. 9.
