The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce proudly presented the only Carlsbad City Council Candidate Forum that was open to the public.
The forum, which was moderated by Jack White and drew about 75 people, took place Oct. 23 at Carlsbad City Library on Dove Lane. The event was broadcast live on Time Warner Cable and also aired multiple times before the Nov. 4 election.
All six candidates, Thomas K. Arnold, Glenn Bernard, Keith Blackburn, Farrah Douglas, Ann Kulchin and Even Delaney Rodgers, vying for the two open council seats were in attendance and answered questions on business related matters. The questions ranged from how each candidate would fund the newly formed Carlsbad Village Improvement Partnership to whether or not they support lengthening the runway at McClellan-Palomar Airport.
After the broadcast version of the forum was over, the audience was given the chance to meet the candidates one-on-one and ask them questions.
The chamber hosts a council candidate forum every two years to provide a valuable service to its members and the community at large.
“It is our goal to give every citizen of Carlsbad the ability to learn more about each city council candidate and encourage them all to get out and vote,” said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the chamber.
The chamber would like to thank Carlsbad City Library and Time Warner Cable for assisting with this event.
