With all the mystery and political intrigue going on these last few weeks about our national debt and the effects the legislation that will eventually be passed, I thought it might be appropriate to share with you some thoughts or definitions of the major side-effect of the debt issue and that would be FEAR. These thoughts are from a collection prepared by Forbes Magazine.
• What the world has to eradicate is fear and ignorance.
• Fear is like fire; If controlled, it will help you; if uncontrolled, it will rise up and destroy you. Men's actions depend to a great extent upon fear. We do things either because we enjoy doing them, or because we are afraid not to do them.
• Half of our fears are baseless; the other half discreditable.
• Valor grows by daring, fear by holding back.
Now that we know some thoughts about fear, what about some ideas about COURAGE.
• Things done well and with a care, exempt themselves from fear.
• A great part of courage is having done the thing before.
• The test of tolerance comes when we are in a majority; the test of courage comes when we are in a minority.
• I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self.
• Physical courage, which despises all danger, will make a man brave in one way; moral courage, which despises all opinion, will make a man brave in another.
In conclusion, courage and fear have there purpose in our lives. The problem that exists is how we recognize each of them and then deal with them.
