Get ready to experience downtown Carlsbad in a whole new light as the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce presents its largest one-day annual Street Fair on Sunday, November 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Carlsbad Village's normally laidback streets come alive with activity and the sights and smells of fair-time as vendors set up booths and shoppers search for bargains, gifts and holiday cheer. Major sponsors include North County Times and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce event is expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors who have an astonishing choice of more than 900 unique vendors offering handcrafted arts and gifts, cherished antiques, mouthwatering gourmet food, exquisite jewelry, unique clothing, items from around the world and more. Children's rides, an international food center, plus an old-fashioned pancake breakfast, all guarantee that the whole family can find something to enjoy.
The Village Fair today is a far cry from its humble beginning more than 30 years ago – nothing more than an impromptu sidewalk sale, and continues to grow successfully by leaps and bounds. Quality is always a key ingredient in the mix. According to Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Ted Owen, the reason so many shoppers look forward to the Carlsbad Village Faire is simple.
"We are the largest single street fair in the country for only one reason, we have the highest quality vendors, and people know they can come back every year and find topnotch items to purchase," Owen said. "Having 800-900 vendors with a wide variety of consumer goods makes us the No. 1 street fair in the nation!"
Parking for this very popular event is limited so visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary shuttles that run to and from the fair every 15 minutes. Shuttle pick-up locations are at the southwest corner of Sears at the Westfield Plaza Camino Real Highway 78 and Jefferson), as well as at the Poinsettia Coaster Station Poinsettia exit off of I-5).
