After conserving more than 10 million gallons of water in Australia alone, and wooing car owners, fleet managers and car manufacturers worldwide with its eco-friendly, effective and convenient technology, Ecowash Mobile has expanded into America.
Founded in Australia in 2004, the green company has more than 85 franchises operating in 12 countries. It recently opened its United States headquarters in Carlsbad and has sold master franchises in Miami and Las Vegas.
Ecowash Mobile USA plans to sell at least one master franchise in each state and put 200 of its bright orange, branded vehicles on the road within 12 months.
When asked how many jobs the business will bring to Carlsbad, Manish Adhiya, vice president of franchising for Ecowash Mobile USA, said the headquarters and operating unit will employ several dozen individuals in the coming years.
Adhiya, who has lived in La Costa for 14 years, said Carlsbad was chosen as the base for the company's U.S. operations for a few reasons.
“The ease of access to transportation hubs and highways, as well as being central to car crazy Southern California was a factor,” Adhiya said. “We also believe the world-class resorts, spas, shopping, amusement attractions, auto dealerships, international corporations and restaurants that Carlsbad offers are paramount to our franchise offering.”
He said the company will benefit the city because numerous people interested in the franchise will come to Carlsbad during their due diligence process.
“Ecowash Mobile USA makes every attempt to work with local businesses to accommodate the needs of our guests and our franchisees,” Adihya said. “We also make every attempt to use local businesses for needs that we have.”
The other benefit the waterless carwash company brings to the area is its environmentally-friendly approach to cleaning vehicles.
Ecowash Mobile uses a special polymer lubricant that lifts the dirt from the surface of the paint and encapsulates it. The dirt is then removed with a soft cloth.
The polymer leaves a protective coating on the surface of the vehicle, which protects it for up to six weeks from the harmful affects of the environment. The waterless technology can save 20 to 45 gallons of water when compared to a typical car wash.
Jim Cornish, co-founder and managing director of Ecowash Mobile, said the concept not only sets new standards in quality and convenience, but provides a sustainable franchise opportunity in a market that increasingly demands social responsibility.
“All Ecowash Mobile products are biodegradable to minimize the company's environmental impact,” Cornish said.
