Through strategic alliances, Eddie Maldonado & Associates is looking to build diverse networks designed to create multiple business opportunities and income streams. We are looking at these opportunities to establish a financial foundation that will optimize strategies for asset preservation and tax relief. Some of our current networks include an Asian partnership that is providing, among other things, building accessories for residential and commercial applications.
There is also the intent to address opportunities available in Asia. We are also involved with investors and entrepreneurs who are looking for returns based on hard assets and place significant emphasis on the development of strategic partnerships and assets. We are also taking advantage of the opportunities of owning a home-based business by the distribution of a functional health beverage.

Starting capital: Our partnership in Asia and raiding the cookie jar.
Average hours worked: I honestly do not keep track. I have always enjoyed what I have done and the hours seemed relative.
Number of teammates: The beauty of looking for and building networks allows for the opportunity to work with any number of teammates at any given time.
Residence: Carlsbad and Oceanside since 1979.
Family: Wife Becky, stepdaughters Tamara and Julia, granddaughters Shasta, Jaydan, Phaedra, and grandson Jon.

What got you into this business? Seeing first hand the power of building solid networks. The Carlsbad Chamber has become one of the premier business organizations in California by doing just that. Also "The richest people in the world look for and build networks," Robert T. Kiyosaki, author of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.”
What makes your business a standout? I have been very fortunate to have been involved in some outstanding organizations and in every instance any success that we have enjoyed has been due to the involvement of some incredible individuals. If you are surrounded by the right team, you will not fail.
Drawbacks to your line of business: There certainly are challenges to what we are trying to accomplish. We prefer to think that there are no such things as problems, only solutions.
Why are you headquartered in Carlsbad? It has everything to do with stability. We have solid city government and city management. We certainly do not have to face the turmoil that seems to follow other communities. Add to that an excellent mix of businesses, quality of life, and great weather. There is no better place to be.
How do you plan to grow? Part of building a successful network is helping individuals achieve their economic goals. Our networks will only grow by helping individuals understand the opportunities that are available in an ever-changing economic landscape and putting them in front of the right people and situations.
Toughest career decision: I have never looked at a career decision as a tough decision. If you are positive, enthusiastic and committed, you will jump in with both feet and never look back.
Ongoing challenges: With an ever-changing global economy, the real challenge is not to view these changes as a threat — but as an opportunity. We need to identify those opportunities and take advantage of them.
Best way to stay competitive: By listening. If we do a good job of listening to what is important to individuals, then put them in a position where their goals are secure and attainable we will then be able to expand our networks.
In five years, where would you like your business to be? We would like to see our networks extend nationwide and worldwide.
What does your company contribute to Carlsbad? One of the things that has always impressed me about Carlsbad is the involvement of the business community through the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. The greatest strides we can make are through the partnership of education and business. More than ever education is the key to the future and we must help ensure that future.
What are your guiding principles? The impact of attitude on life. It is more important than successes, failures, money, or circumstances. It will make or break a company. We have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will adopt for that day. Life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we react to it.
What do most people not know about you? I was a high school football coach and considered making it a career.
What would you change if you could do it all over again? I wouldn’t change one thing. Every step of the way has led me to some great situations and to some great friendships and associations. I can not imagine anyone having more fun than I have had, other than maybe Mr. Don Shemp. If anyone has had more fun, please call me.
Choice for a second career: A sportscaster or photographer for a travel magazine.
People you look up to and why? The teachers who are really trying to make a difference in our educational system. Teachers who inspire their students to have a vision and then provide them with the confidence and the passion to pursue their dreams. More than ever, teachers hold the key to the future.
Favorite movie(s): "Hoosiers," "Rudy," and "Coach Carter."
Favorite quote: "Do not wait; the time will never be just right. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along," author Napoleon Hill.

Advice for new entrepreneurs: In your chosen field seek out the most successful individuals and find out what they are doing. You will be surprised how accessible some of these individuals are and how willing they are to help. As you and your business grow — seek out leaders. Management will maintain your business day-to-day. Leaders will grow your business by leaps and bounds. Remember to help out along the way because it is all about making a life, not a living.
