ViaSat Inc.
Between the three founders, Mark Miller, Steve Hart and I, we had a lot of knowledge about satellite communications. We all worked at the same company and had some new ideas for satellite technology and products, but we knew we couldn't get that done at that company. So we left and started ViaSat in a spare bedroom of my house. We figured out some initial things to do to get paid and get things going, but our focus was always on producing satellite and other digital communication products.

Fleischer & Ravreby
After finishing law school and passing the bar exam, I went to work for a law firm. I realized I would never have the final say on how a case should be handled unless I took complete responsibility for the business. I wanted to implement new technology. My employer was comfortable doing things "the old way." The buck needed to stop with me. By making myself the boss, I could do business the way I knew would benefit my clients. I launched my practice in 2001, hired my first employee two years later, and I have never looked back.

YourOpsManager
I started my business as "Deb Beddoe Consulting." At that time, I envisioned that my CFO and COO background would allow me to do finance and operations projects for large employers in Carlsbad. I found that the large company projects were very sporadic but the businesses that really needed my expertise were the small business owners who needed assistance winding their way through the bureaucracies that were taking their time away from generating revenue. The big projects weren't what these small business owners needed – they needed the ordinary day to day tasks handled.

One day I was working on yet another business license application for a small business owner (who didn't start their business to gain expertise in such things) when I realized that there was a business model in all of the repetitive tasks that small business owners face. I sat down and made a list of everything that small business owners should be doing annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily and came up with a list of 137 tasks just off the top of my head. And most of these tasks were not the reason that small business owners went into business, yet they are extremely critical if not completed on time, accurately, and efficiently. By the following week Ops Manager, Inc. was incorporated with three dba's (Your Ops Manager, My Ops Manager, The Ops Manager).

Tricia Reeves Pet Services
My business idea sprang from watching "Puppy Bowl" on Super Bowl Sunday in 2011. After watching it, I decided to get a puppy, as my job selling school photographs had ended the previous fall and I had time to take care for him. That led to the decision to start a pet sitting business. I could take care of my dog, Paco and he could get some exercise with my four-legged clients! Three years and many dogs and cats later, I have a growing business. I won't get rich, but I love what I do.

5 Star Marketing Community
At the highest point of my marketing and sales career in 2006, I left corporate America to pursue my passion to help small businesses put a stop to their shrinking profits and turn their marketing dollars back into a positive return.

Casa de Bandini
I originally opened Casa de Bandini in 1980 in Old Town's Bazaar del Mundo. Earlier, I'd opened Casa de Pico, named for California's first Mexican governor. One history-inspired restaurant led me to consider other such ventures, thus, we seized on the home of Juan Bandini, an immigrant from Peru, a splendid opportunity to deepen our local cultures! After we lost our lease, we re-opened Casa de Bandini in Carlsbad, where it thrives per authentic d?cor and artistry. We were once happy to bring Mexico's color, spirit and cuisine to Old Town, today, we're thrilled to present this glorious culture to all of North County!
