They are coming! They are coming! The ghosts of Elm Street past, present and future are coming to the Village. Don't miss a good, old-fashioned fun time in the Village of Carlsbad Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 2 to 9 p.m. as we celebrate Halloween. It is really just a reason to have a lot of family fun, and you are invited to join us.
The Carlsbad Village Association will hold the weekly Saturday Farmers' Market in the Roosevelt Street parking lot with some added activities such as a pie baking contest and party games for kids. Local businesses will be providing a safe trick or treat environment for children throughout the Village, and will be decorating their storefronts in a spooky theme. There will be an outdoor movie venue at the corner of State Stree and Carlsbad Village Drive with some hay bales for seats. The Carlsbad Fire Department will provide costume checks to help your child have a safe Halloween, and have some of their equipment on display. There will be a costume contest for pets and people, and an art project for kids. New Village Arts is going to host live make-up demonstrations (fake blood, warts, etc.) and provide for other live entertainment. The Library will be hosting story-telling, and many other city departments, including Parks and Recreation and Utilities, will provide other games and contests. The Boys and Girls Club will provide a Haunted House at their facility on the corner of Oak and Roosevelt. We are also working with the Carlsbad Educational Foundation on a philanthropic project to show support for our schools and children. This is going to be a fantastic event that will demonstrate the power of partnerships and community participation. Come, be a part of the fun!
Elm Street is now Carlsbad Village Drive, and we are celebrating the rich history and the redevelopment success over the years through this fun Halloween event. The activities will occur from 2 to 9 p.m., with some of the more frightful occurring after dark. There will be activities throughout the Village with some key events to be held at the mid-block public parking lot on State Street (south of Carlsbad Village Drive), the corner lot on State Street and Carlsbad Village Drive, the public parking lot on the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue, the mid-block Roosevelt Street public parking lot (north of Carlsbad Village Drive), and at the Boys and Girls Club on Oak and Roosevelt. The goal for this event is to encourage residents to visit and experience the Village, introduce (or re-introduce) Carlsbad families to the wide variety of businesses in the Village, and have some big, family-friendly fun!
We don't think you will want to miss this frightfully fun, family-friendly day in the Village of Carlsbad! Join us in the Village on October 30th from 2 to 9 p.m. Wear a costume all day. Host a themed activity. Provide candy for the trick or treaters. Volunteer to help. Or, just come and enjoy the Halloween fun! Let us know if you plan to do anything special in the Village for this celebration or if you want to volunteer to help.
