Celebrate new growth and new hope at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards Dinner Feb. 20.
The green event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara, 7100 Four Seasons Point, Carlsbad. Internationally acclaimed environmental marine artist Wyland will paint on-site during the evening.
“The 2009 Annual Business Awards Dinner has a theme, Business in Bloom, that really focuses on the growth of Carlsbad's industries. We all need to turn up our efforts a notch to drive away the FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) of going after the market share, new customer or just plain old revenue,” said Ted Owen, president and CEO of the chamber. “Come and see how successful businesses will sustain positive growth in 2009.”
This premiere event recognizes the accomplishments of blooming businesses and community leaders whose sustainable practices have stimulated healthy growth and cultivated a thriving business climate in North County.
Awards will be presented in the following seven categories:
• Businessperson of the Year
• Small Business of the Year (1-15 employees)
• Medium Business of the Year (16-99 employees)
• Large Business of the Year (100 or more employees)
• Lifetime Achievement in Business
• Entrepreneur of the Year
• Community Leadership
Last year's winners include Ben Weseloh of Weseloh Chevrolet-Hummer, Mark and Kathy Winkler of Winkler & Winkler/Keller Williams Real Estate, RBF Consulting, Shea Homes San Diego, Solutions Business Imaging, Synergy Printing Services, Tim Stripe of Grand Pacific Resorts Inc. and Tina Nova Bennett of Genoptix Medical Laboratory.
Two additional awards were given out last year to environmentally friendly companies. Poseidon Resources Corp. received the Environmental Spirit Award and The Lund Team received the Green Technology Advocate Award.
More than 600 people, including prominent and high-profile business leaders, elected officials and community members, will attend the awards dinner. Last year, the event sold out and there was a waiting list for those who wanted to attend.
The event also will honor the achievements of the chamber's 2008 board of directors, inaugurate the 2009 board and energize guests to outshine their competition. The vibrant evening will feature a cocktail reception, exquisite cuisine, complimentary valet parking and more at a world renowned resort.
Those who want to nurture their business must register no later than Feb. 9. The cost is $120 per person or $1,095 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.
