More than 140 golfers gathered at The Crossings at Carlsbad for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's inaugural golf tournament Aug. 6. The sun warmed the green as the golfers set out on the City of Carlsbad's new municipal golf course.
“It was such a popular tournament and everyone was really excited just to be at the new course,” said Lisa Manemann, director of special events for the chamber.
In addition to playing the course, golfers perfected their game at the TaylorMade-adidas Golf demo event at the state of the art driving range. TaylorMade's golf club shapers were on hand to give advice and tips. Various contests were held throughout the day, including a $1 million hole-in-one shootout and putting contest.
On the course, golfers enjoyed a beautiful day of golf, surrounded by the rolling hills of Carlsbad and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
“All the participants had such positive things to say about both the course and the tournament. It was a great way to celebrate the opening of The Crossings,” Manemann said.
Proceeds from the tournament supported the chamber's Partners in Education, which is a private nonprofit that supports the children of the Carlsbad area through the development and enhancement of school programs; and the Wounded Warrior Center at Camp Pendleton, which houses injured service members in a comfortable, home-like setting.
The event concluded with a reception at The Crossings' clubhouse, overlooking the golf course. A silent and live auction topped off the evening, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by the golf course's kitchen.
“The tournament was a success. We raised money for two worthy causes while enjoying a beautiful new golf course. The chamber and its members were so proud to be part of history at The Crossings' opening golf tournament,” Manemann said.
