Of all of the events that we organize at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, the Business Expo is one of my favorites.
That's because it's an event that allows our members to interact with the public, allowing them to see what we here at the Chamber already know, that our members have some really cool products and services.
I get great joy in watching the interactions that take place at the annual expo between the members of the public and the exhibitors. Those who come up to a booth and ask questions or look around learn things about the companies that they never knew before. That's why exhibitors often use the Business Expo as an opportunity to showcase their new services and products.
It's a great venue for people to come in and visit with a company. It allows them to interact one-on-one with representatives from the company. While some people might not feel comfortable picking up the phone and asking them about their service, the Business Expo allows them to do just that. They can ask questions and find out about a product without feeling that they're setting themselves up for a hard sell.
And while, yes, you might be able to do some fact finding easily online these days, a website can't compete with that true personable experience and the immediacy of the personal interaction.
This year, we have some exciting new features, in addition to the 88 business booths that have signed up for the Expo, which will take place from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 at the La Costa Resort and Spa.
Caltrans will be presenting an informative session on how to do business with the government at 1 p.m.
This is also a great opportunity for the public to see the magnificent grounds of the La Costa Resort and Spa, one of Carlsbad's true jewels. It's a great venue for this expo, and we're very excited to be able to bring this event to the resort.
For members of the public, we're offering the opportunity to attend the event for free! Just scan the code on the coupon below (or visit www.carlsbad.org), fill out our registration form and you too can experience this event, which also includes free parking.
Also, look for the the passport at the Expo (or inside the September issue of the Carlsbad Business Journal) to participate in a contest between 5-6:30 p.m. Visit and get a stamp from the booths of the La Costa Resort and Spa, the San Diego Business Journal, Waste Management, Ready Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and enter to win prizes, including a night stay at La Costa.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the Expo!
