K2 Inc recently held its Q1 Business Review meeting at its new corporate offices in Carlsbad, in March. The meeting was attended by K2 associates from all divisions, worldwide. The team building event was a fishing tournament, sponsored by two divisions: Stearns and Shakespeare Fishing and Tackle. Stearns is a major supplier of personal flotation devices (PFD's) to the U.S. military. Shakespeare fishing and tackle division is now in its second century of outfitting fishermen, women and kids with many of the finest rods, reels and related accessories.
The company donated more than 50 children's lifejackets to Sea Star Sportsfishing, home ported out of Oceanside. The Sea Star is a sport fishing boat that acts as a floating marine science lab and conducts oceanography classes at sea. It also donated more than 100 fishing poles, reels and tackle to the youth fishing program. The program is designed to teach youth how to fish while presenting outstanding learning and leadership opportunities for the children.
K2’s diversified mix of products is used primarily in team and individual sports activities such as fishing, watersports activities, baseball, softball, alpine skiing, snowboarding, in-line skating and mountain biking.
