A three-generation phenomenon in the making, King's Fish House is a seafood-lovers dream.

Quaint d?cor, customer service and fresh selections make King's a hit in Carlsbad. The restaurant, which opened across from Carlsbad Premium Outlets in 2003, prepares a daily menu, giving restaurant goers an updated selection of entrees and appetizers with each visit. The reason behind this, according to restaurant Manager Krista Evans, is that King's aims to only offer what they can provide.

"If the fishermen can't get a certain type of fish for that day, it's not going on the menu." Part of the outstanding guest service that King's provides includes giving their customers what they want, when they want it.

"We want people to know that we care about quality not just quantity," says Evans. "Customer service is at the top of our list along with delivering fresh, delicious menu items that will keep people coming back as well as attract new clientele."

The restaurant is currently entering 'salmon and soft shell crab season' as evident by the posters, informational placards and attentive waiters. Much like one would expect from a farmer's market, known for offering fresh, seasonal produce to buyers, King's has seafood seasons. The best of salmon, lobster, crab and other favorites are served when they are in season.

Another appeal to the restaurant's menu selection, dedication to customer service and pleasant ambience is the fact that they are located in a prime area of the city. All within a few mile radius are the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, LEGOLAND, The Flower Fields as well as resorts, Car Country Carlsbad and the beautiful Carlsbad beach.

All are well-served at King's, which offers three types of dining areas: traditional indoor seating, a bar area and an expansive outdoor patio. Children, families, surfers, tourists and corporate customers are all welcome.

A visit to the King's Fish House website tells the tale of their journey to seafood perfection: "We put on bibs, pulled up a seat, and soaked up the seafood experience, the funny odd hand-painted signs, the no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high like glistening treasure troves, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable.

"One thing was clear wherever we went: People put a whole lot of themselves into their restaurants and their food – love and tradition, creativity and invention. We came back so full of ideas and impressions we thought we’d burst. The next step was obvious, to let our exuberance be our guide in bringing them all together in one single, spectacular place filled with camaraderie and celebration and the things we love best."

If you're looking for the ultimate seafood experience or a guiding example of what customer service means and to see that in action, visit King's Fish House at 5625 Paseo Del Norte in Carlsbad or give them a call (760) 431-3474.

"Writers might dream of writing the great American Novel. We dreamed of creating the ultimate seafood experience. So true to a great American tradition, we took to the road and began the long journey down highways and byways to well-traveled destinations and out-of-the-way places in search of the essential ingredients." ~ Sam and Jeff King
