LEGOLAND California Resort has announced that 2015 will see a new addition to its popular LEGO Star Wars Miniland with the arrival of an area that will recreate scenes from the iconic sci-fi movie's Death Star as well as an all new area dedicated to the LEGO Friends product, which will mark the first time the popular Carlsbad theme park has developed attractions that are geared toward little girls.

Heartlake City, which is the hometown of the popular line of "LEGO Friends" toy line that focuses on the lives and personalities of five girls, will open this summer. The new area will have a sing-along tour bus, LEGO horse stables, building tables and a carousel.

The addition to the LEGO Star Wars Miniland, which will open March 5, will be 6 feet long and will features iconic film scenes made of LEGO bricks that were filmed inside the Galactic Empire's space station.

This includes the famous trench run scene where Luke Skywalker maneuvered his X-wing fighter through the combat zone and trench to blow-up the station and its planet destroying super laser.

LEGO models of Stormtroopers, a Rebel X-wing fighter pilot and an Imperial Star Ship pilot will be on display.

Guests can also use their imaginations to construct their own LEGO spaceships at building stations.

"Obviously, the addition to the LEGO Star Wars Miniland area, which is very popular for us, is a sure-fire hit," said General Manager Peter Ronchetti. "But the Friends area is the first time we've done an area specifically targeted for little girls between the ages of 2-12 and clustered around the ages of 4-9."

Meanwhile, Ronchetti also announced that LEGOLAND California Resort continues to set benchmarks.

"This is our tenth straight year of continuous attendance growth and much of this can be attributed to providing our guests with a fun, family environment to enjoy unique interactive experiences and create family memories," said Ronchetti.
