Worried about what to get your friends and family for the holiday season? Worry no more. On the first Sunday in November, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will present its bi-annual Village Street Faire, where more than 100,000 savvy shoppers grab their bags and head downtown in search of food, entertainment and more shopping opportunities than you could imagine.

Vendors, business owners and restaurants transform Carlsbad's Village area into a lively place bustling with activity, entertainment and the sights and smells of fair-time. Fall is the perfect time and Carlsbad provides the perfect weather for vendors to set up booths, and allow eager shoppers to search for bargains, gifts and out-of-doors fun. The largest one-day street fair in the nation will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 5.

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce event is expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors with its more than 900 unique vendor booths offering handcrafted arts and gifts, funnel cakes, kettlecorn, valuable antiques, gourmet food, exquisite jewelry, exotic clothing, items from around the world and more. Children's rides, an international food center, plus an old-fashioned pancake breakfast, all offer a number of ways that the whole family can find something to enjoy.

Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Ted Owen say the reason so many shoppers look forward to the Carlsbad Village Faire is simple.

"We are the largest for only one reason, we have the highest quality vendors, and people know they can come back every year and find topnotch items to purchase," Owen said. "Having 900 vendors combined with a wide variety of consumer goods makes us the number one street fair in the nation!"

Parking is limited, so visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary shuttles that run to and from the fair every 15 minutes. Shuttle pick-up locations are at the southwest corner of Sears at the Westfield Shoppingtown Plaza Camino Real (Highway 78 and Jefferson), as well as at the Poinsettia Coaster Station Poinsettia exit off of I-5). For more information about the free event, call (760) 931-8400.
