Business owners will learn the truth about working with the private and public sector from the experts at "Doing Business with the Government and Big Business," a free workshop from the MiraCosta College Business and Entrepreneurship Center and the Small Business Development Center set from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Life Technologies, 5781 Van Allen Way in Carlsbad.
The event is an exciting, fast paced and informative training that gives attendees facts, tips, resources, contacts, and information to increase revenues and create jobs. More than 90 percent of San Diego's businesses are considered small. Government contracting is an excellent opportunity for them to grow their business.
The event has a panel of experts including the Department of General Services, SDG&E, San Diego Water Authority, Life Technologies and MiraCosta College. Also in attendance will be Assemblyman Martin Garrick, who as a business owner and legislator, brings a distinct perspective and shares insights from the state capitol.
This event is for any business interested in or currently working with the government that wants to increase revenue. Many companies have the impression that working with the government is out of their reach when in fact it is a valid option with certifications, set asides and goals that have been established to help small businesses compete within the marketplace. SBDC Government Contracting Specialist, Cheryl Protzeller will explain all the ins and outs of working with the Government and facilitate the panel discussion with the experts.
