As the founding member of the Carlsbad Partnership for Good, Life Technologies is dedicated to fostering connections between Carlsbad business and local schools and non-profit organizations, as well as building a tradition of giving back to the community for Carlsbad companies, large and small.
The Carlsbad Partnership for Good is aimed at creating positive change in the community where we live and work, and showcasing how the business community can lead by example in those efforts to bring businesses together with our neighborhood partners.
Life Technologies is excited to announce the partnership's first major event will take place at Life Technologies' Carlsbad headquarters from 9 a.m.- noon, February 25, 2011. The company will host a community service project with Feeding America (feedingamerica.org) and Angel's Depot (theangelsdepot.org), where everyone in the Carlsbad community can join our employees in putting together weekend meal backpacks for underserved children in the North County community and donating non-perishable food items for the Angel's Depot senior meals program.
Life Technologies is grateful that Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall has proclaimed this day “Carlsbad Annual Day of Giving Back,” and will be appearing at the lunchtime close of the event. Showing the breadth of the partnership with other members in the business community, local restaurants will also be helping to give back to the community by hosting free tastings of their delicious fare for volunteers and community members at the lunch event.
The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is at the forefront as well, helping to plan additional service events hosted throughout Carlsbad on Feb. 25. For more information on leading a project or to sign up, visit the Carlsbad Partnership for Good facebook page.
“Life Technologies is proud of its legacy as a company committed to giving back and recently shifted its annual Global Volunteer Day into a year-round employee volunteer program. We're excited to offer a framework where other businesses can do the same–sharing resources to create positive change in the Carlsbad community,” said Heather Virdo, head of corporate giving for Life Technologies. “The Carlsbad Annual Day of Giving Back can help other businesses and individual community members come together as a team to improve the greater good, and we hope it encourages people to give back to the Carlsbad community all year round.”
