Sandra Sapol, owner of EmbroidMe Encinitas, recently donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love.
The nonprofit organization provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
“A really great girlfriend of mine ended her battle with breast cancer last year and I wanted to donate my hair in her honor,” Sapol said. “I hope someday soon my hair will grow back to the same length so I can do it all over again. It's an amazing feeling knowing that your donation of hair will be used in such a special way”.
Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure.
EmbroidMe Encinitas is located at 191 N. El Camino Real, Suite 202. For more information about Locks of Love, visit www.locksoflove.org.
