ArtSplash, a non-profit organization that produces the popular annual arts and music festival in Carlsbad to raise funds for art and music programs for north county schools, is presenting their second annual 'Giant La Costa/Aviara Community Yard Sale' event.
Dozens of La Costa/Aviara residents will be holding yard sales at their own homes at the same time on the same day, Saturday, May 20, from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. A $10 tax-deductible donation will get registered participants their street address, as well as the types of items they have for sale, published in a comprehensive Community Yard Sale Street Address Directory. The directory will be available online after May 14 at www.hotinsandiego.com; at Albertsons in La Costa and at La Costa Valley Preschool and Kindergarten. Registered participants will also receive free community yard sale signs to use the day of the event to help direct traffic to their homes. Registration deadline is May 1.
After a morning of yard sale shopping there will be a post yard sale event located in the parking lot of La Costa Valley Preschool and Kindergarten, 2276 Calle Barcelona, beginning at 11:00 am. There will be a free raffle, live music, street chalk art painting for kids, face painting, ice cream, recycling booths and various items for sale.
The goal is to raise $10,000 for the art and music programs for north county schools. Half of all the registration proceeds will be donated to Encinitas Schools' art and music programs, and the other half will go to ArtSplash.
Aside from the goal, the yard sale event gets neighbors outside enjoying the day, meeting new neighbors, making some profit on their items for sale, and helping the environment by recycling their gently used goods.
