About the company:
Founded in August 2002, Morrison insurance Services started with Jim Morrison and an account manager.
"Basically we're a full-service health, life, dental, disability (insurance), anything related to the employee benefit(s). We do individual and family coverage, as well as small and medium business coverage," Morrison said.

Background
"(I) grew up in Orange County, moved down to San Diego when I was 17 to attend the University of San Diego," Morrison said. "(I) fell in love with San Diego and I never moved back."
After graduation from USD, with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Morrison dedicated himself fully to the insurance business.
"I fell I love with the insurance business. I fell in love with the fact that I was dealing with different people and different companies … on a daily basis," he said.

"I just like the environment, kind of like a combination between a sleepy coastal (town) but (with) a real business flair," Morrison said.

What is the best part about owning your own business?
"Like anything else, there are pros and cons" Morrison said. "I like the fact that we can set out a direction as the company … whereas before working for someone I had to subscribe to their philosophy."

What do you like most about the industry?
"I'm very competitive, I love winning. I love when we take over a case because … it basically mean that we are performing better than (our competitors)," Morrison said.
Additionally, he enjoys the service side of insurance, and prides himself in the company's high standards of customer service.

What is the biggest challenge in this industry?
"Sometimes people don't realize that were just the messenger, rates go up and they go up every year. We help our clients shop the marketplace, but a lot of times (rates are) going to go up," Morrison said. "We the messenger, we can only control so much, but we try to make it as easy a possible for our clients."

What is your future outlook for the company?
"We expect that continued growth," he said. "Our primary business growth is through client and professional advisor (referrals)."

Family life
Morrison and his wife have two boys, and are expecting a girl in January.
In his free time, Morrison enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and is an aficionado of cars and watches.
