Vision Airlines received a warm welcome celebration on April 5 at McClellan-Palomar Airport to announce their arrival in Carlsbad.
"Vision Airlines' service to McClellan Palomar Airport in Carlsbad is an important expansion of economic and tourism trade between Nevada and California," said William Acor of Vision Airlines.
News media, several Carlsbad city and government officials, Las Vegas Community and Business Leaders, representatives of the Las Vegas tour and travel industry, Chamber of Commerce staff and Chamber President & CEO, Ted Owen were on-hand to welcome Vision Airlines and speak in favor of bringing the commuter service to Carlsbad.
"Vision Airlines felt that the Southern California market was great to tap into and their business plan had included setting up shop in this area," said Western Flight General Manager, Ginna Reyes. Western Flight is a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at McClellan Palomar Airport that will provide ramp space and fuel service for Vision Airlines. "They chose Carlsbad specifically because we had a commuter service already set up here."
The airline company is operating a Dornier 328, a 30 passenger plane described as roomy with good overhead luggage compartment space. The commuter plane will transport passengers from California to Las Vegas, Nevada. Service will start with one-flight a day four days a week and will increase number of flights and possibly days as business increases. Services are expected to begin in the second quarter of this year.
Sometime in 2006 Vision Airline plans to have additional flights from the airport adjacent to downtown Las Vegas to other airports in Southern California; Merced, California; Scottsdale, Arizona and Logan, Utah.
Founded in 1994, Vision Aviation Holdings Inc. includes Vision Airlines; Vision Holidays, a tour operator to the Grand Canyon and other venues and Vision Coach, a bus operation and transportation provider to Vision Holidays.
