While we at the Carlsbad Chamber take great pride in our members, this past month we were able to really appreciate our Chamber members. It was Member Appreciation Day, referred to as MAD, which turned into a few weeks. It kicked off on July 7 as members filed into the Chamber to pick up their bags (sponsored by Britany Oates-State Farm Insurance) and to choose their area for delivery.
After attending an orientation and breakfast more than 50 volunteers hit the streets to deliver the Chamber's new Business Resource Guide. Each volunteer would thank the Chamber member for his or her support of the Chamber and present the new Business Resource Guide, the annual membership plaque and a special offer to the San Diego Business Journal for a 52-week subscription which also includes The Book of Lists. This year's membership plaque was sponsored by Tri-City Medical Center.
The new Business Resource Guide contains colorful sections such as Quality of Life, Economic Development, Recreation & Accommodations, Healthcare, Community and Government Information, and a special tribute to Mayor Bud Lewis. It also includes information about the Chamber, a calendar that each member can use throughout the year and — most importantly — the business guide.
The business guide is where you can locate each member by the category that he or she represents. First, you can find a member via alphabetical order. This will tell you the page to find the listing on, or you can find a business by its business classification.
The new Business Resource Guide would not be possible without the support of our Chamber members who advertise in the guide. When you need a service, please always refer to the Chamber resource guide for all your business needs.
The response from volunteers who went out and thanked others for their support, was overwhelmingly positive. The feedback we received from these volunteers tells us that members liked having another member personally deliver the guide and express their appreciation for Chamber support. It also gave the Chamber staff information about our members — that a new contact was now at the place of business, or that they had moved to a new location, or the suite number had changed, etc. These are details that help us help you, our members, better.
The Chamber truly appreciates each and every member. I would like to say a special thanks to those who donated their time to assist the Chamber staff with this great endeavor. Every year, people come in and want to get the same delivery area they had the previous year as they have started to build a relationship with the businesses that they deliver to. The excitement is contagious.
For those who have a home-based business or a P.O box, the new business guide will be mailed. The Chamber will also have a new Business Resource Guide delivered to each business in the city of Carlsbad with a business license.
