The North County Transit District is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the SPRINTER light rail system in March.
On March 9 , NCTD will hold a special event to commemorate the event at the San Marcos Civic Center Sprinter Station, 100 E. San Marcos Blvd. in San Marcos. The event will include a 2 p.m. presentation on the past, present and future of the SPRINTER and family fun until 4 p.m. including an interactive train racing exhibit for children, a railroad history booth, desserts and refreshments.
To commemorate the anniversary, sometime in March, NC Transit will pick two lucky SPRINTER trains and shower all passengers aboard with freebies. The day and time of these lucky trains is being held secret, but clues can be obtained on the NCTD Facebook and Twitter pages.
