The city of Carlsbad's newest fire station celebrated its opening Aug. 29 with an official dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.
Carlsbad Fire Station No. 6 is located at 7201 Rancho Santa Fe Road. It services a 2.5-mile radius around the station in the southeastern portion of the city and houses three full-time firefighters.
The station's two apparatus bays house a structure engine and a brush engine. The new, 6,200-square-foot station replaced temporary Fire Station No. 6 on Levante Street.
“The city of Carlsbad is committed to providing high-quality public safety services to our residents. This station is no exception,” said Carlsbad Mayor Bud Lewis. “We are pleased that Fire Station No. 6 is now up and running at its permanent facility.”
Construction on the $4.1 million station began in June 2007. The station has been operational since July 1, 2008.
Temecula-based Edge Development constructed the station. Dudek and Associates, based in Encinitas, served as the construction and inspection management team.
