What is the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Success Center? It's a one-stop shopping center for our small business Chamber members. Small businesses join the Chamber for many reasons but, bottom-line, most members join to help increase their business!
Our Small Business Success Center is designed to:
*Facilitate member introductions for leads and referrals.
*Provide one-on-one counseling to assist members with all aspects of their
business. Facilitate on-site counseling with needed.
*Encourage individual and small group sessions to learn more
about each members' business and how the Chamber can be of assistance.
*Consult with members on involvement in the Chamber activities that best suit their goals, including committees, events, the street fair and workshops.
*Provide business training for members through workshops and targeted seminars with Chamber partners.
*Highlight small business announcements and successes through Chamber publications and events.
*Serve as one-stop location for all information related to growing your business.
SBSC Success Stories
Here's how some of our members have already benefited:
Cindy Broderdorf, account manager for PRIDESTAFF, a local woman-owned staffing service, specializing in personalized administrative staffing.
*Cindy joined the Chamber in February and attended a Small Business Roundtable Discussion in March. That gave us an opportunity to meet her and discuss her goals for membership.
*She then followed up with a one-on-one consultation where we were able to further discuss her interest in developing more leads and we referred her to several business members who were new to the area and possibly in need of staffing. We also discussed committee involvement and marketing opportunities.
*Within a few days, Cindy was successful in providing her staffing services for these companies and she was beginning to learn how to make “warm” connections with Chamber members.
*Cindy then started to make additional friendly contacts, member to member – presenting her services at the same time. She noted that Chamber members form a “club” and it's much easier to contact someone you have something in common with than to make a cold call.
*Cindy has now also updated her Web site to include a discount for Chamber members, she's joined a committee and she's already a visible, active person within our Chamber.
*Her company coined the phrased “Netweaving” and that's certainly what she's accomplished at the Chamber.
JOHN QUART, DORA ENTERPRISES, distributor of flood prevention products.
*John came to the Chamber in March enquiring about membership and marketing his new flood prevention product. We invited him to a Small Business Roundtable Discussion where we learned more about his unique new product.
*Shortly after joining the Chamber, he scheduled a counseling session where we determined that since his product was new, it would be important for him to develop an aggressive marketing strategy.
*John's product is ideal for commercial property owners and homeowners who recognize the importance of installing a product that will shut-off their water flow in the event of a leak. We determined that he should become active in the Chamber networking events and we placed him on a waiting list for the Carlsbad Village Street Faire on May l.
*The Chamber's Carlsbad Village Street Faire is the largest one-day street fair in the nation, attracting 80 to 100,000 people twice a year. Chamber members receive first priority for this regularly sold-out event. The exposure for a new business is invaluable and John was excited about the opportunity to present his product and receive feedback. Within a few days, there was a booth cancellation at the street fair and John was the first member on the waiting list. He's now busy preparing for his first big exposure to the public.
