A relatively new organization, the Outdoor Art Foundation was founded with the idea of placing outdoor sculptures throughout Carlsbad. In 2007, the Outdoor Art Foundation officially obtained its nonprofit status with Sandra Chanis, Dennis Batt, John Cadman, Mark Winkler, Gary Hill, Katie Taylor and Lisa Taylor as the trustees.

Mission of organization: The mission of the Outdoor Art Foundation is to install public art designed by invited and juried regional artists throughout Carlsbad. The objective of the Outdoor Art Foundation is to promote an appreciation and education of art by the public and to stimulate the development of the artists. The Outdoor Art Foundation is dedicated to place Carlsbad on the world stage as a cultural mecca and a great place to visit and live.

Significant milestone: The first milestone was the First Carlsbad Masquerade in February 2006. The event is a fund-raiser that offers a major display of art from outstanding regional sculptors.

Trustees: Sandra Chanis as the managing trustee and Dennis Paul Batt is the co-managing trustee.

Board members: Sandra Chanis, Dennis Batt, Gary Hill, Katie Taylor, Mark Winkler, John Cadman and Lisa Norton.

Wish list of items the organization would like to have: Corporate sponsors and community enthusiasm.

How you measure success: We will measure success when we obtain $2,000,000 to purchase and maintain a significant quantity of art along with a growing endowment to continue the mission of the organization.

How can people get involved? You can help us attain our goal by contacting us and asking to participate in our fund-raising efforts of raising monies and enlist the co-operation of business and city leaders for placement of art for public enjoyment.
