Pacific Ridge School, a nonprofit independent middle and high school located in North County San Diego, hosted a ground-breaking ceremony Feb. 27, at its 7.3-acre campus site.

There were 150 people in attendance, including a representative from both Sen. Mark Wyland's office and Assemblyman Martin Garrick's office. Assemblyman Garrick presented a certificate of recognition to PRS from the California Sate Assembly.

The event was the official launch of the nonprofit's $5 million fund-raising campaign, Shaping Lives that Will Shape Our World. The Shaping Lives campaign was designed to attract support from a wide community of friends. Donors have already committed $1 million to the new broad-based campaign through which individuals and businesses can
“Give the Gift of a Great Education.”

“Previously, we successfully raised over $7.5 million, which has enabled us to purchase land, make site improvements and contract to have modular buildings put on the site,” said Dr. Eileen Mullady, head of school at Pacific Ridge School. “Our trustees and supporters have committed generously, of time and resources, to bring the mission to life.”

Pacific Ridge is reviewing applications for students entering seventh and ninth grades in the fall of 2007. For more information about Pacific Ridge School please visit www.pacificridge.org or call
